Why “#sharejesus”?
While serving as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Matthew/Matty G spent a significant amount of time working in social media-specific responsibilities. So, in the effort to reach more people using social media, “#sharejesus” just came to mind one day.
“#sharejesus” became particularly important, and even more symbolic since social media carries a dark and often negative reputation. So, is there really a better place to emphasize the need of bringing light in?
Social media was created in the spirit of neutrality, neither for good nor bad. But, unfortunately, people across the world have used social media to spread and promote hatred, deception, judgement, and even violence.
Through study of the scriptures, it’s clear that, in the Lord’s Kingdom, there is no place for such darkness and wickedness.
The only tool that stands a chance against the darkness (and we know it wins in the end) is the Light of Jesus Christ.
“#sharejesus” isn’t just a brand, a bracelet, a t-shirt, or a call to action. It’s a representation of Jesus’ invitation to His followers to, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16 KJV)
So, embrace it. Share the name of Jesus & don’t be shy. Let your light shine.
